College for Women in Tender

Gulf Consult in association with Cambridge Seven Associates, Inc. of Boston had been commissioned in 2007 by the Kuwait University Construction Program to undertake the Study, Design and Supervision of the College for Women at the new Sabah Al-Salem University City Campus. The project is already in tender, and the tenders are expected to be due on May 17th 2011. Construction on the site is expected to start by the second half of 2011.

The College for Women had been designed as a unique new state of the art teaching and research facility for a total of 3,000 undergraduate students and 300 graduate students by 2025.

It will house several academic departments and a language unit:

  1. Art and Design.
  2. Communication Science and Language.
  3. Environmental Technology Management.
  4. Family Sciences.
  5. Information Science.
  6. Language Unit.
  7. Information Systems.
  8. Public Administration.

The Architectural Concept Design for the College is based on the creation of a central atrium under a large overhanging roof as the heart of the college.
