In parallel to the final stages of work on the Boubyan Island Master Plan, Kuwait’s Mega Projects Agency commissioned the conceptual design of all marine and land based activities related to the construction of a major new container port on the east coast of Boubyan Island.

These designs were then developed with outline specifications  and  Bills  of Quantity to form a comprehensive set of design/build tender documents for public tender.

All marine and marine related infrastructure design work was undertaken by Mouchel Parkman of UK, with Gulf Consult as its Kuwaiti Associate, particularly responsible for the conceptual design for all buildings and associated infrastructure. Gulf Consult also provided general support to Mouchel Parkman in their tasks.

Buildings so designed included the Port Administration Building, the Harbour Masters Tower, Container Freight Station, Customs Facilities and Marine Operations Building, in addition to a full range of social and infrastructure support buildings, bus terminal, servicing and parking.
