Gulf Consult in association with Montgomery Watson Harza (MWH) were appointed by the Ministry of Electricity and Water to develop the Kuwait Water Distribution Scheme and Master Plan to the year 2030.

The first phase of work included comprehensive study and analysis of the following aspects :

  • Ground water analysis
  • Alternative sources of water
  • Evaluation of the various options for Artificial Aquifer Recharge as well as international water transfers
  • Production of a hydraulic model using Info-water
  • Recommendations for all works necessary to blend, treat and distribute the brackish and fresh water as well as storage
  • Propose Water Demand, Asset Management and Leakage Management measures and set up of pressure zones
  • Conceptual design of all works identified in Preliminary and Final Reports
  • Risk analysis and emergency planning.

The second phase of work involved the study and recommendations of a commercial contract strategy for the execution of the works identified in the first phase for the Kuwait Water Distribution Scheme. The strategy proposed that the first phase of the Kuwait Water Distribution Scheme is executed through 10 contracts.
