National Winner at the 2020 MEED Projects Awards
We are proud to announce that Gulf Consult and Langdon Wilson, has been named the National Winner at the 2020 MEED Projects Awards. In recognition of the exceptional medical facilities it provides, alongside its unique geometric configuration, Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah Hospital has been selected as the Healthcare Project of the Year.
During these unprecedented times, the 1168-bed Jaber Hospital has been used exclusively for the treatment of COVID-19 patients, and was operating at full capacity for several months. Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmed Hospital is considered one of the largest medical centers in Kuwait. In addition to the main medical components, the hospital includes other facilities that promote and enhance learning and career development, such as classrooms, a medical library, and a 300-seat auditorium.
A one-kilometer atrium, the Medical Mall, runs the whole course of the building, connecting the internal medical, surgical and exam rooms to the recovery rooms of the in-patient towers. Internally, this public space encloses vendor, waiting and landscaped areas. The Medical Mall is a purely glass roofed system, creating a glowing crescent—a distinct separation between the patient and treatment facilities.
