Located in Shuaiba Industrial area, this project consists of a 1.8 MTPY (million ton per year) cement manufacturing plant, comprised of a complete clinker production and storage facility. It also has a ship unloader at the port for raw materials, in addition to a conveyor from the port to the plant.

The main elements of the compound are a raw materials storage shed, a concrete mixing hopper building, two raw mills, a concrete pre-heater tower, a pre-stressed concrete building silo, a kiln, a cooling building, a clinker steel silo, two concrete silos, a control station building, a petrocoke mill and an overhead gallery.
The three unique features of this project are the pre-stressed concrete silos, the slip-form concrete technique used (which involved continuous pouring on the tower) and the very large foundations which can withstand extremely heavy thermal and dynamic loads.
Gulf Consult’s scope of work included the detailed architectural and structural design of all civil work, including the detailing of the reinforced and pre-stressed concrete structural steel buildings. Other services included network design and detailing for roads and storm water, sewerage, water supply and electrical networks.
